Meet the Family: An Introductory Letter

I’m continuing my series of copy-able letters to sponsored children. To read more about this series, click here

This letter is a general “meet the family” type of letter. I’ve included information about my immediate family and some of my extended family. I do not have children, but if you do, I would be sure to mention them in this letter 🙂 Anyway, I hope it provides you with a jumping-off point for your own letters 🙂

A Second Letter: Family Introductions

My Wonderful Friend _______,

Hello! I greet you with a big smile and a strong hug. I am so happy to be your sponsor and write you. I was excited to learn that you have such a big family. It must be fun having 4 brothers and sisters! I am an only child – no brothers, no sisters.

My dad works on computers at a factory about 60 miles from our town. My mom,  works as a teacher at the local elementary school. 2 years ago, my mom left and moved into her mother’s house. Although my parents are still married, they do not see each other very often, and have a strained relationship. Please pray for them and I will pray for your parents to have many happy years of a loving marriage.

I live in my childhood home with my father; his kitten, Shinobi; and my cat, Jäger.

In my extended family, my father has 2 sisters. He is the youngest. None of his sisters, or their families, live near us. Both my grandma and grandpa on my Dad’s side of the family have died and are now with Jesus in Heaven. My mother has 1 sister. My grandfather on my mother’s side died and is now in Heaven with Jesus. I look forward to seeing my grandparents again in Heaven one day.

And now, the most exciting part of my family: you! The Bible tells us in Mat. 12:50 that Jesus said, “Anyone who does the will of [God] in heaven is my [family].” I am so happy to have you in my family!

I leave you with lots of love and hugs!

(I would include a photo of my mother and father, myself, and the 2 cats with this letter)

I like this letter. Very detailed, but simple. I seem to never be short on things to to write my children, but if I was, I would definitely come here. It’s a good thing you’re doing.

Thanks 🙂 now that I’ve started writing regularly, I’ve not been too short on words, either. BUT I spent a ton of time earlier this year looking for letters to ‘copy’ – after reading the Compassion Offical Blog post, I thought it might be good to share some of my own to copy. I’m glad you think it’s a good thing 🙂 I’ve really enjoyed posting them – and creating the templates!
