2012: A Courageous New Year

I’ve never been big on New Year’s Resolutions, well, let me rephrase that, New Year’s Resolutions have never been big on me. They just don’t stick. I’m usually way too ambitious, and upon failing (because I set myself up to) I get discouraged and fall into the trap of indifference.

Enter the blog-o-sphere and the wonderful suggestion of a single focus word.

I LOVE this idea! I wish I had learned about it earlier!

As I reflect, it is easy for me to see that the single word that sums up my 2011 experience is Recovering.

Recovering from a broken heart.

Recovering from being a lame sponsor.

Recovering my faith.

Recovering.

And, as I look forward to a better 2012, the word I keep coming back to is Courageous.

A Courageous New Start

Courageous New Friendships

Courageous Faith.

1 Chronicles 28:20
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.

Wordle: Courageous

After posting this and catching up on other blogs, I found where Sandra (over at the reasonable diet) shared a resource for creating a nifty graphic representation of focus words like the one on the left. Check out her blog for how you can create one of your own🙂

I think this would be awesome as a poster in my office! A reminder of the courageous new year.

Have you chosen a single word focus for 2012? I’d love to hear about it🙂
