Five Minute Friday: Identity

I’m joining the Gypsy Mama and her Five Minute Fridays. Rules are: for only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not. Won’t you join us?

{start}

Identity is not formed by a singular moment or a singular person. Identity is a compilation.

It’s a compilation of how you perceive yourself based upon input you’ve had all your life.

Identity is hard to shed and hard to change.

But sometimes, Identity is wrong.

Sometimes what you grow up believing about yourself could never be farther from the truth.

Sometimes the views we have of ourselves are not who we really are.

Sometimes, it takes heartbreak and change to discover our own identity.

And sometimes, it just takes one person who cares, even if that person is yourself.

    I really like the direction you took with this. It’s very hard to shake the things we believe to be true about ourselves, but it helps develop us into better people in the long run.

    Sometimes we’re so busy pleasing other people, we forget to listen to our own needs. But when you finally do, it’s such a great relief!
