Project Life: Week 20

ProjectLifeWeek20Left ProjectLifeWeek20Right

This was a photo heavy week, to put it mildly. I spent Tuesday – Thursday at Hot Springs, AR, attending a conference for work and on Friday I finished quilt #2 of 26; so lots to document.

To document the quilt, I used an insert (a Design A pocket page cut down) and filled it with photos of the front & back of the quilt, plus a few journaling cards describing the details.

The “pattern” I used for this quilt is a modified disappearing 9-patch, and I tried to note the changes in the drawing above. Honestly, I’m surprised at how much I like this card. I knew I wanted to sew some of the left over fabric on the front, but was at a loss as to what to do to the back – the pattern sketch was a spur of the moment idea and one that I’ll probably use again. PLW20Garden

In addition to all the adventures I had this week, both my home garden and the office garden really took off, showing lots of growth and lots of baby produce.PLW20KeysI’m notorious for locking my keys in my car. In my old car, I had one of those magnet boxes with a key attached to the underside of the frame – the key wouldn’t start the car, but it would open the door. I can’t tell you how many times it saved me. I don’t have the spare key in place for my new car, yet, though. And wouldn’t you know it, I would lock my keys inside when I’m 3 hours from home. Oh well, after an hour wait for the locksmith and a $40 bill later, I’m was in my car and turning the charge into the insurance.
PLW20Hotel The hotel I stayed at in Hot Springs was super nice, and I’m loving how this photo turned out. It perfectly captures the room and the rest I got while there.

To be completely honest, I’m not a big drinker. I might have an alcoholic drink once every couple of months – usually when I’m enjoying a meal with friends. That being said, sour apple drinks are awesome, and one of my favorites.

A few other highlights from the week:

  • Shinobi is not a fan of company and often hides under Dad’s quilt when we have guests.
  • The hotel & Convention Center I visited in Hot Springs was full, and I mean FULL, of great art.
  • The shear number of flea markets in central AR makes my head spin – I visited two during this trip and they were HUGE – I definitely see a trip back in the future.
  • Cat-Butt cactus planters are the best. the end.

***I get a lot of questions about the mini photo collages I use in my spreads. To make them, I use the frametastic iPhone app set to the postcard size. I take & process 100% of my photos using just my phone; and most of the time, I print straight from my phone to Walgreens via the Printicular app.

Hi Emily! I came to your page through The Mom Creative. This week’s, I just saw a link to this layout at the bottom and clicked on it. Just from looking at this layout, I think you & I would be friends if we lived in the same area. We have a lot of common interests. I plan on coming back and looking at your blog more when I have additional time this week. PS – It looks like you’ve done a Color Run and I’m totally jealous. That’s on our list for next year 🙂
